Yawn Advent Calendar Day 1-4

It's that time, for our first blog post all about Yawn Advent Calendar - if you missed my little introduction post all about it, you can read it - here

Day 1
The Colombian

Profile - rich, dark, sharp, strong.
Roast - dark

The brew
V60
1x packet (9g)
Recommended brew - 220ml water
20ml bloom, 2 minute 30 total brew time.

Now many people who know me will know I'm not the fondest on dark roasts - however, it was quite a pleasant smoky flavour. It also mixed well with milk.

Day 2
Kenya AA Supreme

Profile - Full Bodied, Rich, Vibrant Acidity, Fragrant.
Roast - Full Medium

The brew
V60
1x packet (9g)
Recommended brew - 220ml water
20ml bloom, 2 minute 30 total brew time.

I really enjoyed this brew, it was sweet and syrupy. Super smooth with minimal acidity, also super lovely as it cooled.

Day 3
Pura Vida (blend)

Profile -  Balanced Latin American Spice and Fruits
Roast - Light Medium

Blend - Costa Rica, Colombia, India

The brew
V60
1x packet (9g)
Recommended brew - 220ml water
20ml bloom, 2 minute 30 total brew time.

(now realistically I should've brewed this through a mokka pot, but it was very early in the morning and my brain was NOT working)

I did also end up adding quite a bit of hot milk to this one, just to balance out the flavours a bit better. I also think it was more of a full medium roast instead of a light medium. It was quite harsh without the milk (but that might've been my own fault for not brewing it for an espresso based drink)

Day 4
Daterra Bourbon

Profile - Chocolate, Caramel, Dark Fruits
Roast - Dark

Now I had my thinking cap on this morning and used it to brew up an espresso as recommended by the guide.

The Brew
Mokka Pot
1 x 9g sachet

I ended up making a lovely little latte. It was still a little to dark for my liking, but I'm sure for someone who likes dark roasts, it would be pretty great.
